ABOUT

Property Is Power Mission

I want to illuminate the transformative potential of property ownership. Property is Power is focused on fostering a deeper understanding of the significance of property ownership.  We believe that when individuals, regardless of background, commit to property ownership, it enhances the wellbeing of the entire nation. Property ownership is not just a financial asset, but a powerful means to shape one's future. When individuals are empowered, they naturally become active contributors to their communities, fostering a sense of belonging and shared responsibility.

The benefits of homeownership go beyond having a place to live. Research consistently shows that owning a home is linked to a wide range of social, educational, and economic improvements. Homeownership can lead to higher graduation rates, greater family wealth, and stronger community engagement. These gains extend beyond individual households, contributing to broader societal stability and economic growth. My goal urges communities to come together, advocating for policy changes and establishing avenues for equitable access to homeownership.

Property is Power!

is more than just a slogan it's a call to action for communities marginalized in the pursuit of homeownership. Rooted in the belief that owning property is one of the most significant pathways to financial security, generational wealth, and a lasting legacy, this movement champions the power of property as a transformative tool. We are focused on expanding homeownership within Black and brown communities. Homeownership becomes a driving force for economic equality and social mobility. By equipping our communities with the knowledge and tools to overcome the obstacles to property ownership, we are building the foundation for a more equitable society one in which everyone has the opportunity to thrive and contribute to their fullest potential. Our goal is to level the playing field, ensuring that every person can fully participate in the economic, social, and cultural life of their community.

The Impact of Homeownership on Black Wealth and Legacy

Today, Black homeownership rate stands at approximately 45%, well below the national average. But what if we could increase that number by just 1%, to 46%, over the next two years. It may sound modest, but the impact would be monumental. Let’s break it down:

Wealth Generation

A 1% increase in Black homeownership would mean roughly 170,000 more Black families owning homes. Owning a home is one of the most effective ways to build wealth in  America. It offers a path to equity appreciation, which provides  homeowners with long term financial security. The170,000 additional homeowners would have the potential to build hundreds of millions of dollars in wealth over time, simply by owning property.

Economic Impact

Homeownership doesn't just benefit individuals; it drives local economies. When families own homes, they invest in their communities through property taxes, home improvements, and local businesses. An increase in homeownership would stimulate economic activity in underserved neighborhoods, creating jobs, strengthening schools, and enhancing local services. The ripple effect would extend beyond Black communities, benefiting the overall economy.

Legacy Building

Perhaps the most critical impact of increased homeownership is the potential for legacy building. For too long, Black families have been locked out of the intergenerational wealth transfer that homeownership provides. A home can be passed down, ensuring that future generations have a foundation on which to build their own lives and dreams. The ability to pass down equity, security, and stability can change the course of a family’s future for generations to come.

Why It Matters

Each percentage point of increased homeownership in the Black community represents more than just numbers on a chart it represents real families breaking free from centuries of systemic barriers. It represents hope, opportunity, and a tangible step toward closing the wealth gap that has long held Black families back.

Imagine a future where Black homeownership mirrors the national average, or even exceeds it. The resulting equity would not only strengthen individual families but also reshape entire communities, creating a future where property truly equals power.

By increasing Black homeownership, even by 1%, we set future generations on a path toward economic stability. The benefits of homeownership go far beyond the present moment they provide a foundation for lasting wealth transfer, social mobility, and stronger communities. The impact would be profound, and a testament to the undeniable truth that Property is Power!
